"Those who love the poor during life will have nothing
to fear at the hour of death."
- St. Vincent de Paul
Founded in 1617 by St. Vincent de Paul, the Ladies of Charity
is a worldwide association of practicing Catholic women who
seek every opportunity to make Christ present in the lives of
the sick, the poor, and the lonely. Ladies of Charity help to
serve both the material and spiritual needs of others by volunteering
their time to direct outreach programs (such as soup kitchens
and visiting the sick) and to fund-raising activities (such
as the Craft Show and Treasure Mart) whose proceeds go directly
to serving the needs of the poor - stewardship of time, talent
and treasure.
Any practicing Catholic woman who is 18 or older from any parish
in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is welcome to join! There are
currently women in the organization who range from young professionals
to retired senior citizens. Whatever your age, whatever you
do, you will find life's greatest fulfillment comes through
serving those who need you.
There is no strict time commitment! It's as little or as much
time as you have available and there are plenty of opportunities
throughout the year to help. Ladies of Charity activities include,
but are not limited to:
- Visiting or calling the sick - Treasure Mart (July)
- Visiting nursing homes and hospitals - Craft Show (October)
- Soup kitchens - Thanksgiving Food Drive
- Making and serving food at funerals - Christmas Giving Tree
- Sharing Sunday Van (twice a month) - Making rosaries
- Serving as Eucharistic ministers, lectors, etc. - Parish
festival Bake Sale
There are roughly four meetings per year (January kick-off,
Day of Recollection in March, fall kick-off, and September luncheon).
Dues are just seven dollars per year.
The Ladies of Charity is a great opportunity to expand or enhance
your volunteerism as well as to become more involved in and
connected with the Parish, to feel part of the parish community.
Please consider joining the Ladies of Charity to bring God's
love to someone who needs it!
