Bereavement Ministry

Bereavement Ministry – invites parish men and women to become intimately involved with the beatitudes of burying the dead and comforting those who mourn. This ministry helps celebrate the end of life in a meaningful way by assisting the clergy and helping family and friends of the deceased who have Funeral or Memorial Masses celebrated at St. Gertrude. Duties include: expressing the sympathy of the parish, offering to meet with the family for up to 90 minutes to help with liturgy planning, assisting in practical needs, praying for the deceased and their loved ones, and attending the funeral if possible. This ministry is in dire need of volunteers, since the parish averages 45 funerals/memorials per year.
