St. Gertrude is a Roman Catholic Parish in the Dominican heritage of prayer, preaching and teaching. Under our Lady’s mantle, gathered as the Body of Christ, we celebrate Him in the Sacraments, Sacred Scripture and in Catholic education. Serving our brothers and sisters in the New Evangelization, we seek to grow in love as we journey with Jesus to God the Father.

Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - July 22, 2018

Rev. Rev. Michael Corcione OFM, Archdiocese of Toronto

Lectionary: 107
Reading 1 JER 23:1-6

Woe to the shepherds
who mislead and scatter the flock of my pasture,
says the LORD.
Therefore, thus says the LORD, the God of Israel,
against the shepherds who shepherd my people:
You have scattered my sheep and driven them away.
You have not cared for them,

Treasure Mart - 2018

From the Pastor 07/22/18

Summer is always a busy time for us. Lots of capital improvements have or are taking place. You will notice the Ordination Jubilee Marker has now been put on the new serpentine wall landscaping marking the Pastors of the parish who have celebrated their 25th and 50th Jubilee of their ordination. A lot of other landscaping has been accomplished and we are almost ready to advertise many trees that will be made available for memorials and dedications. We will have more information on tree dedications in a few weeks. A second learning atrium for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is almost complete, along with other construction and redistribution/ consolidation of school space. We have also been able to put new flooring in the main sacristy, and the rest of the stairwells and landings in the church. Several painting jobs are taking place all throughout the campus. The church floors have been refinished as we do each summer. We have removed the old front and side walkway at the convent and have put in new walkways for the sisters. Finally we are in the midst of installing our new heating system for the church. Most of this work is being accomplished due to your generosity to the Archdiocesan Capital Campaign, in which a portion is being returned to our parish.

Please prayerfully consider your availability to spend one hour each week in intimate conversation and quiet meditation with your Lord.

Take a look at the openings in the schedule. We would like to fill each hour with at least 3 adorers. In the chart on the right the red dots indicate time slots that only have one scheduled adorer, and the black dots have NO scheduled adorer. Any time slot you could commit to would be a blessing for our parish community and yourself!

If you would like to become one of our Perpetual Eucharistic adorers (also known as a Eucharistic Guardian), signup by using the form below.

Please contact the Adoration Committee if you have any questions or would like more information.
