Who We Are
Cub Scouts is a program for boys and girls in grades K-5 that is part of Scouting America, formerly known as Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Cub Scouts is designed to help children develop skills, make friends, and have fun while learning about the world around them. At St. Gertrude, Cub Scout Pack 555 uses the principles of scouting to supplement the formation of scouts' Catholic faith in alignment with the parish mission.
What We Do
We focus on doing our best and having fun while doing it. At the heart of scouting are hands-on, interactive activities designed to be fun for children while teaching them about perseverance and developing their problem-solving abilities. In Cub Scouts, there are opportunities to spend time as a family and to do things that help build upon the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Cub Scout adventures include:
- model rockets,
- fishing,
- Pinewood Derby,
- Raingutter Regatta,
- hiking,
- archery,
- camping,
- swimming, and
- shooting sports.
