New Child Protection Platform

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati has moved from VIRTUS to SafeParish™ as the new platform for child protection training. Every person in a position which requires contact or interaction with youth or vulnerable adults must complete the SafeParish edition of Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse training before they can work or volunteer within any of the parishes, schools, or institutions in the archdiocese. 

​If you are a current VIRTUS account holder or you will be volunteering or working in a capacity which requires contact or interaction with youth or vulnerable adults, please read on to find out what this means for you and to learn more about SafeParish.

Current VIRTUS Account Holders
You should have received an email from SafeParish with instructions for registering on the SafeParish website. SafeParish will match your information via data transferred from the VIRTUS database to identify you and transfer all your account information. If you did not receive an email from SafeParish, please contact Emma Golias, St. Gertrude's safe environment coordinator, at [email protected]. 

If you have not kept up to date with your VIRTUS account, you will need to follow the registration instructions to register with the new SafeParish program and take the interactive video-based online training. 

Ongoing child protection training will still be required for all archdiocesan volunteers and employees and will consist of quarterly interactive video-based training instead of monthly bulletins. The first quarterly bulletin will be September 1, 2021.

New Volunteers and Employees
If you do not have a VIRTUS account and will be volunteering or working in a parish, school, or institution in the archdiocese in a capacity which requires contact or interaction with youth or vulnerable adults, please follow the registration instructions to set up an account on the SafeParish website. You will need to complete the SafeParish edition of Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse training before you can begin volunteering or working. During the registration process, you will be invited to complete their background check and child protection training online. New employees will also need to complete manual fingerprinting and submit a B4 form for approval.
