The Archdiocese of Cincinnati, in keeping with its policies, has completed the five-year revision of the Decree on Child Protection. The revised Decree is available for download and acknowledgment on the archdiocese SafeParish website. Each user with a SafeParish account will need to log in to their account, download, acknowledge to have read, and agree to abide by the requirements of the revised Decree. If this is not completed within 30 days of the promulgation of the Decree by the archbishop, the user’s SafeParish account will show as pending until the user completes the acknowledgement. Users with pending SafeParish accounts are not permitted to work or volunteer with youth until they have met all the child protection requirements and their SafeParish account is approved. Please contact Emma Golias, our safe environment coordinator, at [email protected] with any questions.
Child Protection Training
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati utilizes SafeParish™ as the platform for child protection training. Every person in a position which requires contact or interaction with youth or vulnerable adults must complete the SafeParish edition of Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse training before they can work or volunteer within any of the parishes, schools, or institutions in the archdiocese. In addition, there will be required ongoing child protection training for all archdiocesan volunteers and employees that will consist of quarterly interactive video-based training.
New Volunteers and Employees
If you will be volunteering or working in a parish, school, or institution in the archdiocese in a capacity which requires contact or interaction with youth or vulnerable adults, please follow the registration instructions to set up an account on the SafeParish website. You will need to complete the SafeParish edition of Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse training before you can begin volunteering or working. During the registration process, you will be invited to complete their background check and child protection training online. New employees will also need to complete manual fingerprinting and submit a B4 form for approval.
