ARCHbishop elder council #1195

Charity. Unity. Fraternity. Patrioticism.

Who We Are

The Knights of Columbus Archbishop Elder Council #1195 at St. Gertrude Church is part of a national fraternity of Catholic men who are building a bridge back to faith. We come from many places, backgrounds, and stages in life, but we all have similar beliefs and values and are striving to better ourselves and our world. It's one thing to say who you are; it's another to live it. Knights of Columbus put their faith into action. Every. Single. Day.

What We Do

We support St. Gertrude Church and our community, families, youth, and council through the corporal works of mercy. From blood drives and pancake breakfasts, to baby bottle fundraisers and ultrasound machine donations, we are making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. (Check out the photos below from the 2023 40 Days for Life closing service.)

When We Meet

We meet a few times each month:
  • Business Meeting - The first Thursday of every month is our business meeting, open to all Knights (with a current membership card) and prospective members. We pray the rosary at 7 p.m. and then begin the meeting.
  • Executive Committee Meeting - On the third Monday of every month, Elder Council executive officers (grand knight, deputy grand knight, chancellor, financial secretary, treasurer, trustees (3), and the chaplain (Father John Paul) meet. We begin at 7 p.m. with a prayer and then plan our agenda for the next business meeting and discuss issues that were raised in the previous month's meeting. This meeting is only open to executive officers.
  • Rosary Social - Every third Tuesday of the month we hold a rosary social, which is open to the entire parish and community. We pray the rosary at 7 p.m. in the church and then head over to the Parish Center for a special talk or presentation and refreshments.

The 40 Days for Life closing service, coordinated by Cincinnati Right to Life, took place on Palm Sunday, April 2, at 2 p.m. Our pastor, Father John Paul, was invited to lead the outdoor Stations of the Cross (supported by the Knights of Columbus Archbishop Elder Council #1195) and share a closing message.
