Change.
It’s part of life. Though often unwelcome, we do tend to love it when we cause change to happen on our own terms. We constantly try to change our behavior, habits and reputation, the way we look, the way we work, who we hang out with, and what we do with our time, and how we dress.
Change is at the heart of Christianity; it’s called conversion. But, Christian change doesn’t happen on our own terms. Christianity is about surrendering our lives to One who does the changing and transforming – boundlessly.

Boundless conversion and continual transformation are possible only when we root our lives in the one relationship without which all of our other relationships ultimately fail.
A personal relationship with Jesus makes living the mission of Christianity possible. It means stepping into His story and generously answering our call, your call, the one that only you can answer, the part that only you can play. |
Being Catholic is ultimately about living for God and for others. While being Catholic entails an objective, immediate, personal encounter with Christ that is possible because the Church exists in the world today, one doesn’t ultimately become Catholic for oneself alone, but for the sake of being able to truly love God and other people. Living as a Catholic is a life of worship, obedience, and service. It is a sacrificial journey, with no wages, stretches of darkness, and possible persecution. Being Catholic means courageously going with the light and truth of Christ into the dark places of life simply because we must, and knowing that it may cost us our ego and reputations. Success in the Christian life has nothing to do with earning honor and recognition for oneself, but in offering our lives, in Love, for the glory of God and the good of others.
In order to help you live the mission, St. Gertrude Church is dedicated to offering opportunities for Catholics to say “yes” to Jesus over and again, to learn what this “yes” means, and to go on mission together as we all seek to live the adventure of the Christian life. Our Live the Mission offerings are community-driven and fall into three categories:
