"Jesus said to them, 'I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood; you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.'"

Who We Are
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are men and women of St. Gertrude Church who serve the parish by distributing holy Communion to the faithful.
What We Do
EMHCs serve the parish in two capacities:
- They assist St. Gertrude's priests in bringing the Eucharist to the sick.
- In the rare occasion that help is needed during Mass, they assist the celebrant with the distribution of holy Communion.
When We Meet
EMHCs do not meet together on a regular basis; however, all ministers go through an initial training before they are able to serve at Mass. Additional trainings/refreshers are scheduled as needed.
Join Us
Anyone is always welcome to become an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at St. Gertrude Church. If you are interested in joining this liturgical ministry, please call the parish office at (513) 561-5954.
Before you can serve as an EMHC, you will go through training at St. Gertrude and complete an archdiocesan EMHC training program. You will then be commissioned by our pastor. Generally, serving as an EMHC is a 3-year commitment, which can be renewed.
