Archangel Icon Workshop

Paint your own icon of Archangel St. Michael or St. Gabriel during a six-day workshop at Iconic Studio. You will learn the ancient techniques of gilding with 24kt gold leaf on burnished clay and painting with egg tempera paint, as well as the meaning behind the image you’re painting and the symbolism involved in the materials, colors, and drawing.

The workshop, taught by Tatiana and Dmitrii Berestov, will take place Monday, June 27, 2022–Saturday, July 2, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (there will be an hour break for lunch). There is a $90 deposit due by June 6 with your registration form, plus a $250 tuition and materials fee due the first day of the workshop (June 27). All materials and tools are included.

Ladies of Charity May Collection

The weekend of May 7–8, the Ladies of Charity will be collecting items for Mary Magdalen House, a center in Over-the-Rhine that serves the homeless by providing bathrooms and shower facilities, telephone use, and the launder of one set of clothing. (The center does not provide meals.)

Mary Magdalen House is in need of the following items, in addition to cash donations:

Brown paper grocery bags to hold client’s clothes.
Clothing (can be used unless noted):
- men’s underwear sizes 30-36 (new)
- thermal long johns
- men’s and women’s white socks
- men’s and women’s belts
- shirts (particularly flannel) sizes L, XL,
- shoes (particularly gym shoes)
- women’s underwear and washable pants (of special need)
Cleaning supplies:
- Drano
- Lysol (liquid)
- laundry detergent
- bleach
- windshield fluid
- Top Job
- plastic bags
- dryer sheets
- paper towels
- toilet tissue
- Mr. Clean
Personal Care Items:
- towels
- face cloths
- after shave/perfume

Father Earl K. Fernandes Appointed Bishop of Columbus

On April 2, the Holy See announced that Pope Francis has appointed Father Earl K. Fernandes of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati the thirteenth bishop of the Diocese of Columbus. Father Fernandes will be consecrated and installed on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Click on the image to the right to read Archbishop Schnurr's letter to the faithful congratulating Bishop-elect Fernandes on this joyous news and sharing some of the ways Father Fernandes has ministered to the archdiocese.
